This neighbourhood restaurant is in Usera, the area known as Madrid’s Chinatown. It is a shabby place with plastic tablecloths and paper napkins in tissue boxes. Yet the tables are always packed with Chinese customers and a few intrepid locals. Cuisine from the Wenzhou region, which is mostly based on seafood and gives rise to succulent, spicy dishes such as stewed head of hake, dried duck tongues and the cockles in sweet wine. Delicious, authentic food at very affordable prices. It’s worth making the trip.
