This hundred-year old eatery, renowned as one of the local temples to the Madrid-style cocido (stew), is located near to the Cascorro square in the most authentic part of the city. Baroque, bullfighting décor and an unbeatable traditional cocido (stew) that is cooked slowly using premium ingredients and served in three stages. The colossal servings are not for the faint of heart. There is a bar for enjoying a glass of Spanish wine or some great Madrid-style callos. The dessert menu is a bit limited. There are two sittings at lunchtime, one at two o’clock and the other at half past three. A word of warning: book well ahead as this cocido is very much in demand.
